Perspective doesn’t necessarily have to be through the eyes of someone else. You are the only YOU in this world. Tap into your own soulful algorithms and stop scrolling, start living the life that makes you Tik and not Tok.

Sometimes it takes two pens and a blank notebook page. If you’re not the journaling type this may make you freeze up and cringe at the thought of writing down your inner workings. But not once, not twice, but three times in a week, three different people told me to write down my joys. Yes. Joy – what brings me joy? Not a pros / cons list as many of us do, nope, a joys list.
It took a couple days of prayer to really dive deep into my joys and put it all on paper. Plot twist, there wasn’t a whole notebook and two pens worthy of all my joys. The few jotted scribbles were the ones that mattered to me and that’s all that mattered.
In a world of NOW! we tend to get wrapped into what others are doing (guilty) the latest trend and what’ll happen if we don’t do X-Y and my goodness, don’t forget Z. How can we begin to detangle in this world? Well, sometimes it’s as simple as….
Stop. Delete. Rinse. Repeat.
Stop Scrolling, Start Living
Recently, a fleeting case of ‘missing out’ forced me to retreat inward and plow forward with what I intended to accomplish during the alleged “not going with them” weekend. It certainly didn’t take long to shed the FOMO, I don’t even think I waited for five family members and their van tail lights to vanish.
Off to the proverbial races I trotted and stomped out some time to:
- recharge
- reflect
- reinvent
- reset
- get perspective
What better time than now to gain perspective and lean into self care and spiritual motivation.
Why now you ask? I say, why not now.
There’s no perfect time or place to lean into a new perspective. Moms may find it comes during car pooling kids to soccer. Or, for instance during a garden seed planting or sucking up left over popcorn kernels under the couch (wasn’t me). In truth, listen to the music within your soul and not the latest Instagram trend.
Have you had a chance recently to gain some perspective? What was it that you did, thought, gained? Ponder on that a moment and jot it down with two pens and blank sheet of paper.
