How are you enjoying your slow summer days? Summer often begins with familiar phrases like: A. where is the summer going?! B. any vacations this summer? or my favorite C. before we know it school will start! I think we can all relate to these phrases in some way. My response to all these is A. summer is STILL here and I’m just gettin’ started B. no vacations – staycations C. good, because I need a break. Slowdown this summer take it all in. Slow summer days include keeping the shop stocked with loud music while my handmade soul is getting a boost of inspiration.
Bee Balm and Carry On
My gardens are moving on with or without me this summer. They are a little disheveled thanks to the deer but the flowers seem to be just as beautiful especially amidst the random raspberries in the lily patches. I totally forget that I transplanted some perennials last year somewhere and low and behold they are popping up in the most appropriate places – this makes me happy because, well – it just does.
Summer is a great time to dust off the bucket hat and
head out doors!
Ambition? Nah.
This summer I have a laundry list of things I want to get done around the house. They include things like cleaning out all the kitchen cabinets, cleaning out the nasty bathroom drawers (you know ya’ll have ’em, too), wash walls in multiple rooms, landscaping projects, etc. I mean the list goes on for three pages people! Obviously, I had more than a few cups of coffee the morning I made this list with an extra dash of ambition. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good ol’ fashion just-get-er-done sorta day, but my inner drill sergeant is not feelin’ it- at least not for this sort of list.
Slow Summer Days calls for reading a good book and unleashing your creative soul!
Building Our Blocks of Creativity
Summer wraps around us like a warm breeze and all the creative senses consume the ideas that have been circling the heart and mind for months, yes months. Sewing lace pillows and constructing playful LEGO® parks is just the beginning to unlocking our juices for midsummer days. A new purse was screaming at me (loudly, I might add) and I had to simply shut her up and make one. On top of feeling the warm, creative breeze fill me it felt even better that I fueled my creative soul.

Something Up My Sleeve
Speaking of fueling my creative soul – I’m so excited to share that I’ll be kick starting a little mini-series the next few months! It’s all about the second-hand outfits I wear. Sharing my style with you will hopefully be just as fun for you as it is for me! This will have a different twist to it than the OOTD (outfit of the day) series but will be just as fun! Stay tuned!
