That feeling of being needed or wanted or even liked – is awesome. For example, take these new knit slouchy hats pictured above, they are all unique and special in their own way and so pretty in their existence in a photo together, much like a community of special-ness. Okay, so I’m a little drama-llama with my handmade hats. Truth be told, handmade hats are not the only thing I am attached to….
The “bear” essentials
Making supper for the family or getting a slobbery lick from your dog, they both give a nod to “yep, they need me“. We all need to feel the love, even if you burn the alfredo sauce or the dog licks you on the behind as you pass by. In my case the need of a forty-year old (yes, forty) stuffed bear that sits on my bed is worthy of being loved. This worn out bear is a perfect example of being needed – after all he is forty. Whether you’re accepting a “thanks mom!” from your teenager, squeezing the end of the toothpaste for your grandkid while parents are on vacay, or hugging your beloved bear, feeling needed can be special. (I knew you would ask about the bear so here is the jist – his arms and legs move, eyes are intact, tag is a bit ratty and if you look at him long enough he might wink. He was a gift when I was three.)
Be you-nique
My passion truly lies within to carry out uniqueness and find the uniqueness in others. Sometimes just thinking about being unique isn’t enough, really. Being deliberate and intentional is like a dedication to customization of the soul! (I just sorta felt like Meg Ryan there for a minute when she’s talking to Tom Hanks in “You’ve Got Mail”). Anyways, whether it’s what you wear or the way you speak to people, being natural is key. Trust me, it can be awkward at first to explore your uniqueness. Compare it to speaking to people at a social event or community meeting – First off, you may not even know the people or haven’t seen them for a long time but the conversation begins slow, gains momentum and next thing you know you’re exchanging phone numbers with like-minded people, talking passionately about current events and planning your next event.
Special, you are
As Yoda speaks in a backward tongue, so too I do (we watched Star Wars last night). Anyways, that would be confusing if I continued in a Yoda-dialect so I’ll just get to my point. Shopping for a custom hat can be daunting and quite frankly, exhausting. You’re searching for that extra mile of “now that’s what I want!”. Customization right down to your fabrics, your style and your size, just for you.
